Career and Technology Strategy
The Career and Technology Strategy redefines high school success as students prepare for their future. The vision of the strategy is to engage and inspire students in career and technology education opportunities that are dynamic and seamless as they transition into education, training and work beyond the K-12 system.
In providing students with opportunities to prepare purposefully and practically for their futures, the Strategy supports the Calgary Board of Education’s MEGA END statement: Each student, in keeping with his or individual abilities and gifts, will complete high school with a foundation of learning to function effectively in life, work and continued learning.
Guiding Principles of the Strategy include:
- Credentialing opportunities serving the needs and interests of students, industry and communities
- Programs of study connecting career and academic standards to prepare students for success in post-secondary education, careers and lifelong learning
- Collaboration with partners in business, industry, labour, post-secondary education and the community
- Career planning and management
- Innovation and quality of content and delivery
- Future orientation to meet emerging needs
