The "Pedal Pushers"

This special license plate for a child's bike is a special reminder for one of our community members.

In the 1950's children joined a "Pedal Pusher" club where they learned important rules about bike safety.  Police officers would visit students at their schools to practice these important rules.

Oddly enough, children did not know about one of the most important things about bike safety:  Wearing a helmet!

Children today know that it is against the law not to wear a bike helmet in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  This is becoming a law in many cities and countries around the world.
