In the home in the 1950's

In the 1950's it was very common to find that the woman of the house stayed at home to raise the children.  Because things cost a lot less money and since people bought fewer things, there was often only a need for the father to work.

Women at home often cooked and baked for their families.  Treats for the children were not as easy to buy as they are today.  Fruit roll-ups, granola bars, and packaged pudding simply did not exist.  This special box of pastry and baking tools is a special memento and a reminder of how things have really changed.

Today, most families have two working parents.  Families with only one parent also find the parent working.
