Peigan Jacket - history below...

horse image

On January 28, 1948 my Great Grandfather, Dr. Victor Spackman and my Great Grandmother, Ethel Spackman, were made honourary Chief and Princess of the Blackfoot Branch of the Peigan Tribe in Browning, Montana.

The ceremony was performed by Chief Bull and assisted by Chief Paul Old Chief and various others. The name my Great Grandfather was given was Chief Red Crow and my Great Grandmother was Princess Longtime Wolverine.

We believe that my Great Grandfather was chosen to be an honoury chief because he was a medical doctor, who gave much of his time in helping heal the people of the tribe.
