The turnip was a healthy food that the Blackfoot people ate. It was found in the ground. The BlackFoot people did not plant the turnip, they had to find them. The BlackFoot women would use a bone to scrape the dirt away from the turnip in the ground. They ate the turnip cooked, in stew and in a normal dinner that they had, which is cooked buffalo, barriers, turnips and Pemicken. When the turnip is found the out skin is a burgundy type of color, but when they are cooked the turnip skin is pealed off and the inside of the turnip is a yellowy kind of color. The turnip is a vegetable, when it is found it has a stem and has roots attached.
