Explanation of the Project
From April 2001, a number of classes from three different countries will engage in an innovative, telecollaborative project designed to explore the concepts, facts and issues surrounding the importance and fragility of wetland habitats in the world today. The project, Bog Ho! 2001, will enable participating classrooms to conduct a comparative analysis of key components within a wetland. Bog Ho! 2001 will have students and teachers engaging in:
Parameters for Participation
As this is the first year for Bog Ho! it was decided to limit participation to six schools. Currently, we have three schools from Calgary, two from England and one from New York State. Duration
Project planning began in March 2001 and is expected to be completed by July 2001.
Expected Outcomes
As previously mentioned the project is designed to meet all learner outcomes in Grade 5 Science Topic C (Wetlands) with an emphasis on addressing foundational understandings relating to wetland ecosystems:
