Gingerbread Math Project

To explore the math concepts of perimeter, area, volume, decimals, and money sense, we undertook an intensive math project involving building a gingerbread house out of graham crackers. The students were surprised how much math they actually were doing and really found the project interesting and engaging. With assistance from our AISI leaders Nancy Steeves and Joan Walker we encouraged the students to write and think about math in a different way than they had ever before. It was a challenge that the students were eager to master.
