Entering a List
Numerical lists can be used for various reasons. A teacher can do grade lists, mathematical computations, sorting numerical lists, etc. To enter numbers into any column of cells, the numbers can be changed by font size, font style, font color, and be aligned left, center, or right in each cell. Number presentation can be altered in appearance the same way text can be changed.
To enter a numerical list:
  • select any column to enter the number list
  • block column (highlight it), apply any changes to the cell and number appearance
  • click the cell where the start of the list will be
  • type in the data into each cell
  • to go to the next cell in the column press 'Enter', or use arrow keys
  • NOTE: any changes or corrections to data inside any previous cells; click the cursor in the cell and all changes have to be done via the Formula Bar

Applying Changes to Columns

Applying Changes to Rows

Sorting Numerical Data in Columns

To Sort numerical data in a single column:
  • input all data into column
  • highlight column by clicking on Column Name
  • click on Sort Ascending or Sort Descending
  • all column data will be sorted

Sorting Money Figures in Columns

To Sort money data in a single column:
  • input all data into column
  • highlight column by clicking on Column Name
  • click on Currency Style icon to convert numbers into currency figures
  • click on Sort Ascending or Sort Descending
  • all column data will be sorted

Preparing a Work Area
  • to create a title row, select row (see diagram below) by clicking on the Row # to highlight entire row
  • apply any changes; e.g. font style, font size, font color, alignment in cells to that entire row
  • widen any individual cells as required
  • input data into title row
  • select (highlight) entire area required and apply borders to all cells if needed
  • start inputting data into cells

Sorting More Then Two Columns Together
To sort data that is in more then one column; e.g. sort a list of students with their marks, sorting students by age, or sorting inventory by cost, etc. prepare your work area first.

  • prepare work area (see diagram below)
  • make a title row
  • select work area
  • input required data into cells
