WordArt and ClipArt
WordArt and ClipArt are the same features available in other Microsoft
programs such as Word. WordArt and ClipArt can be applied to Excel worksheets.
There are various tools that can be used to modify any text, WordArt, or ClipArt. These
tools are usually located in the bottom tool bar of the Excel screen.
If the drawing tools are not visible in the tool bar: do this
- on the top Menu Bar click on View
- in the drop down menu click on Toolbars
- in the Tool Bar drop down menu click Drawing
- the drawing tools will be included in the bottom tool bar
Drawing Tools

WordArt
WordArt is accessed by clicking on the WordArt icon in the Drawing tool bar.
Inserting a WordArt item into an Excel worksheet
- click on WordArt icon (see diagram below)
- select style of WordArt from WordArt Gallery

- the Edit WordArt Text box will appear (see diagram below)
- select the font size and style
- type in the text
- click OK WordArt item will be placed on the worksheet and small
WordArt edit box will appear
- move WordArt item in desired location on worksheet by putting cursor on
the item until cursor changes into a cross-arrow cursor, hold left mouse button
down, move item to desired location in worksheet, release mouse button
- use 'Fill' tool to change the color of the selected text
- change the cell background color by highlighting the required cells and
applying a 'Fill' color in the background of the WordArt item
- use WordArt edit box items for additional changes to item if needed
- to change size of WordArt move border squares with cursor
- to elongate item move yellow triangles with mouse
- to change shape of WordArt item use 'WordArt Shape' in edit box
- when WordArt in desired location and all changes applied, click cursor
anywhere on worksheet
- NOTE: to have cells appear on a printout ensure borders are applied
to cells by using the 'Borders' tool and selecting the style of border

Using ClipArt
There are numerous ClipArt items that can be applied to a worksheet.
To access ClipArt items:
- click on ClipArt icon
- Insert ClipArt window displays
- select (scroll down for more items) category of ClipArt (NOTE: not all
Categories will have clip art items included)

- selected Category will display various clip art items to choose from
- click on item and download pane displays
- click on download to insert item into worksheet

- minimize 'Insert ClipArt' display
- clipart will be in worksheet
To change ClipArt item on worksheet
- put cursor on clipart, cursor will change to double-arrows
- hold left mouse button down and drag clipart to position required in worksheet
- size of clipart is changed by putting cursor on small border squares
- cursor will change into an arrow, keep left mouse button down, drag cursor
to enlarge or make the clipart smaller
- color background of clip art can be changed by clicking inside the border
of the clipart item, use Fill tool, select color, and background
color will be applied
- NOTE: to have cells appear on a printout ensure borders are applied
to cells by using the 'Borders' tool and selecting the style of border

Importing Graphics into Excel
Pictures and graphics, other then those supplied by ClipArt, can be imported
into an Excel worksheet. The steps are:
- in the top 'Menu Bar' select Insert
- in drop down menu select Picture
- in side menu select From File (see diagram below)

- when From File selected, Insert Picture window appears (see diagram below)
- open File in which picture is located
- click on picture name and preview of picture will display in 'Preview Pane'
- click on Insert to place picture in worksheet
- picture can be re-sized and changed using same procedures as described for
WordArt and ClipArt in the previous sections
- NOTE: to have cells appear on a printout ensure borders are applied
to cells by using the 'Borders' tool and selecting the style of border
